Here's the effect, which reads dry but goes down brilliantly with the audience:

The magician holds two elegant sticks (450 mm long, with a noble, shiny golden look) in his hand. A long white string with a red tassel hangs out of one stick. The second stick, on the other hand, has only a short cord with a tassel at the end. The two sticks are held parallel, then the magician pulls on the short string. This becomes longer and longer, while the string of the other stick shortens at the same speed.

Is there a secret connection between the two sticks (and the strings)? The magician takes the upper ends of the sticks apart and right: a connection becomes visible, but it is immediately cut with a pair of scissors. And again the magician pulls on the short string, which lengthens while the string of the other stick gets shorter and shorter. If there is no connection at the top, the audience concludes, then the connection must be at the bottom. The magician immediately holds the sticks crosswise so that neither the upper nor the lower ends come too close to each other and immediately repeats the amazing effect. After several variations, this hit of magic reaches its climax when the magician pulls out of his pocket an extra string with a tassel, this string becomes longer and longer and at the same moment and with the same speed both strings on the sticks in his hand shorten!!! Definitely one of the best executions the magic market has to offer at the moment!!!!
