This trick begins in a completely bizarre and wacky way and your audience will initially think: What's a nonsense, any halfway talented toddler can do that. A second later they will be speechless and realise that magic was involved.

You announce, dressed up in a funny and interesting lecture, with cocky words that you are about to perform a miracle. For its realisation you need immense strength, a box of matches and a sharp toothpick.

You take the box of matches in one hand, the toothpick in the other. With an exaggerated, seemingly superhuman effort, you now begin to slowly push the toothpick through the box from top to bottom, so that first only the tip, then almost the entire toothpick appears on the underside of the box. Then you pull the toothpick out of the bottom of the box.

What's the point, anyone can do that, think the viewers.

You ask if anyone wants to copy it and it certainly won't take long to find a volunteer. But what is it?

Although the spectator even tries to hit exactly through the hole you have poked, he does not succeed in pushing the toothpick even a millimetre into the box! Dumbfounded, the spectator and the rest of the audience will take note. But why does it not work?

Quite simple: after opening the match drawer, it turns out that the whole box is filled with a solid, lead-heavy metal block. No wonder then. You can take our word for it: what reads relatively dry here is a real bomb in performance that almost slays the audience! Level of difficulty? None: order, read the explanation, take the matchbox and toothpick, rehearse the enclosed presentation and get started! Don't add anything on the sly, don't take anything away, just do the magic and enjoy the amazed faces of the audience!
